SRINAGAR: Director General Youth Services and Sports, J&K, Navin Agarwal has sanctioned 888 scholarships in favour of students of Jammu and Kashmir, who participated in the National School Games last year.
The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Agarwal at Jammu in a meeting of officers of the department and Director Physical Education, University of Jammu.
In all 888 scholarships were sanctioned, out of which 567 belong to Jammu division and 321 to Kashmir division including three gold, 31 silver and 22 bronze medalists, besides 832 national school games participants.
The gold medalist will get Rs 10,000, Silver medalist will receive Rs 7,000and Rs 5000 for the bronze medalist each and Rs 1750 for players which have taken part in national sporting event, it added.
The scholarship amount of Rs 18,13,000 will be distributed to the concern students through the respective District Youth Services and Sports Officers.
