NC’s only ideology is to gain power: Hurriyat (G)

SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference led by Syed Ali Geelani Sunday said that chief minister Omar Abdullah’s statement that the upcoming parliamentary elections are the battle of ideologies was a “joke.”
In a statement, the spokesman of the pro-freedom amalgam said that “National Conference has never believed in any ideology.”
“However this party and its leadership have a single motive and that is to get power by hook or by crook and that is why they have every time and in every situation tried to stand on the hollow slogans,” the statement said.
The statement said that the ruling party “once promised Kashmiri nation return of their honour and dignity.”
“But instead of doing that, NC pushed the whole nation into the abyss of slavery and disgrace and converted the whole region into the worst conflict zone,” the statement said.
The pro-freedom amalgam further said: “State power and machinery is not used in the battle of ideologies but in these battles the opposition is also given a chance to present their views in a democratic way and they are not stopped or banned.”
“It doesn’t suite Omar Abdullah to call it the ‘battle of ideologies’, as has detained follower of a strong ideology Syed Ali Geelani, in his house since 2010 and have completely chocked his political space,” the statement said.
