Rajouri contractors to go on hunger strike against payment delay

RAJOURI: The contractors at Rajouri have called for a hunger strike on Tuesday against the delay in payments by the Irrigation and Flood Control Department for the works that have been completed in 2011.
The contractors who met under the chairmanship of district president Rajouri Ishfaq Ahmed Mirza saidf the protest will be held  in front divisional office the IFCD.
The contactors claim that  works  for the departmental involving more than rupees 3.5 crores have been  complemented by the contractors in June, but even after their completion the payments have been stalled.
The contractors said that the IFCD officials sent the work done liability to the concerned division in the month of 2012, but still there is no sign of payment, even after three years.
This delay according to the contractors has put them in a major financial stress and they too are in position to pay the labor engaged and others.
Left with no alternative the contractors say that hunger strike is the only option left with them to move the government.
Those who attended this meeting included on this occasion  Manzoor Malik , Abdul  Qayoom Bhat, Daleep Kumar, Kushal Kumar , Mohd Ashraf Mirza, Abdul Majeed Qureshi, Mohd Altaf Bhat, Manzoor Ahmed Mirza, Abdul Qayoom Bhat and Wazir Mohd.
