Agro Industries forays into pesticide sales

SRINAGAR: Foraying into pesticides sales, J&K Agro Industries Development Corporation Limited for the first time has decided to provide potash-based fish oil to the fruit growers of the Valley, an official spokesperson said.
The decision has been taken to provide quality potash based fish oil to the fruit growers at their doorsteps on reasonable rates, the spokesperson said.
Agro Industries launched the sales operations from Lal Mandi office here on Wednesday. Among others present on the occasion were Abdul Majid Bhat, Managing Director, J&K Agro Industries Development Corporation, Mushtaq Peerzada, Director Agriculture, Kashmir, Sonam Narbo, Director Horticulture, Kashmir, General Secretary, Apple Growers of India, Haji Abdul Ahad Rather and a large number of growers.
Giving details about the product, Managing Director, Agro Industries said that the fish oil has been procured as per the recommendations of SKUAST, for use as alternative to tree oil. The product contains 70 – 75% Potash based Fish Oil Fat, 10 – 15% Solvent and 10% Emulsifier.
He further said that for spraying this Fish Oil, one litre of the concentrate has to be mixed with 9 litres of diesel and 300 litres of water. The Corporation has arranged the product from a reputed company of Maharashtra on war footing basis after following the due codal procedure and the arrangements for its marketing has been made in such a manner that the product will be available in every district of the Valley.
The Fish Oil shall be available in retail in the packing of 5 litre, 20 litre and 35 litre packs at the rate of Rs. 200/- per litre (for 5 litre pack), Rs. 195/- litre (for 20 litre pack) and Rs. 190/- per litre (for 35 litre pack).
