SRINAGAR: Punjab crushed Jammu and Kashmir by eight wickets on Monday in the north zone leg of Vijay Hazare trophy match played at Jamia Millia Cricket Ground, Delhi.
The defeat was third in as many matches for the J&K, which means the Parvez Rasool led side are out of quarter-final race.
Punjab didn’t have to sweat much to scale down the target of 200 as Manan Vohra (89) and Mandeep Singh (76*) struck half centuries to complete the rout in the 37th over losing only two wickets.
For J&K Parvez Rasool and Waseem Raza took a wicket each.
After being put in J&K were restricted to a total of 199 as J&K batters once again failed to deliver as five of them failed to make it to the two digit figures.
J&K never recovered from the early damage done by Punjab strike bowlers Manpreet Gony and S Kaul.
J&K openers Adil Reshi (1) and Manish Dogra(3) again failed to provide a solid start as both were back in the hut with just five runs on the board.
At one stage J&K were reduced to seven for three, before skipper Parvez Rasool (47) and Ian Dev Singh(50) shared a 85 run stand for the fourth wicket.
Down the order Hardeep Singh contributed useful 31 to post a total 199 in their allotted 50 overs.
For Punjab Pacer M Gony and India off spinner claimed three wickets each.
