Revoke ban on hotels: Owners

SRINAGAR: While welcoming the passage of the Bill stopping sealing and demolition of illegal buildings in the Assembly, the Valley hoteliers have urged government to immediately implement the decision so that establishments are opened for commercial activity.
Hoteliers have also demanded revoking of ban on hotels, which were sealed for non-availability of Sewerage Treatment Plants (STP).
Kashmir Hotels and Restaurant Association (KHARA) and Kashmir Hotels and Restaurant Owners Association in a joint statement said government should not delay implementation of the ordinance.
The hoteliers also urged the government to give relief to hoteliers also whose establishments are also sealed for want to STP.
“The hoteliers have more than 19 rooms should also be allowed to operate. Government should help both traders and tourism fraternity instead of creating problems for them. The business community is for the good of the state and for helping economy grow,” said president KHARA Showkat Chowdhary.
