Yamaha India’s sales up 32.5% in February

Mumbai:Japanese two-wheeler maker Yamaha today reported a 32.5 per cent increase in sales at 42,548 units in February 2014.
The company had sold 32,097 units in the same month last year, Yamaha Motor India said in a release here.
The Auto Expo 2014, new product launch along with innovative ongoing customer-centric activities boosted the volumes to an all new level, the company said.
“This month has been very good for us with a lot of positive developments happening in the industry as well as at the company’s front,” Roy Kurian, vice-president for sales & marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt Ltd, said.
Yamaha rolled out its family-oriented 113 cc automatic scooter ‘Alpha’ at the Auto Expo held in Greater Noida last month.
Mr Kurian said the government’s move to lower the excise duty in the FY’15 interim budget is expected to give the auto industry the much-needed push in the coming months.
“Our robust results in the domestic market can be attributed to our strong product portfolio including the FZ & SZ series, Ray and Ray Z, and also our new family scooter – ‘Alpha’, which has been very positively received in the market. “We shall continue with our endeavours to delight our customers through many new as well as existing customer engagement programmes,” Mr Kurian added.
