SRINAGAR:  The Syed Ali Geelani-led Hurriyat Conference Saturday said that Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Admi Party (AAP) was no different than BJP or Congress.

“We consider Arvind Kajriwal and Narendra Modi as the two sides of the same coin because both of them favor the illegal and unjust occupation of Kashmir by India,” a statement issued by the spokesman of Hurriyat Conference (G) said.

He said that “AAP can be a new or special and revolutionary party for India and the people of India, but for Kashmiris it is no different from Congress or BJP.”

“Like the dangerous role of Farooq Abdullah and Mufti Sayeed against the Kashmir cause, every person who will vote or support AAP or any other pro-India party, will commit an act of treason,” the pro-freedom amalgam said.

The statement said that Kashmir was not an issue of good or bad governance, “but an internationally-recognized political issue.”

“It is also a human issue, where large-scale loss of human lives is continuing,” the statement said adding “this issue has snatched the peace, comfort, tranquility and dignity of the common people.”

The amalgam said that change of government was meaningless in Jammu and Kashmir as the issue of governance was secondary to the political dispute.

The statement further said that the AAP may be welcomed in Delhi and other parts of India, as people there were fed up with the corrupt and dishonest policies of traditional political parties and they want change of the system.

“But as far as Kashmir is concerned, the slogan of change is merely meant to deceive the common people of Kashmir,” the statement added.

“Although all the pro-India parties of Kashmir are extremely corrupt and dishonest, but the change of government is meaningless here and the issue of good or bad governance is considered as secondary,” the statement said, adding “To end the illegal forced occupation of India and to solve the dispute according to the wishes and aspirations of the people is the primary issue in Kashmir.”
