Malik, aides detained as police foil JKLF rally

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front( JKLF) chairman  Mohammad Yasin Malik and several of his party colleagues were Friday detained when they were preparing to hold a protest rally in the city against the Army’s decision to close the Pathribal case.
Malik and his 12 colleagues were taken into preventive custody near Maisuma while they were trying to march towards Lal Chowk.
JKLF had announced its plan to hold the protest rally against the Army’s decision of giving clean chit to its personnel involved in the “killing of innocent civilians in Pathribal”.
Talking to reporters before being detained, Malik slammed the “clean chit” to the accused personnel in the alleged fake encounter case.
“Kashmiris will not and cannot keep silent on the issue of Pathribal and our protest to bring the killers to justice will continue,” he said, and also raised the issue of Lolab killings.
