Lolab protests: 3 held on charges of spreading rumour

SRINAGAR: The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police have arrested three persons including two brothers for allegedly floating rumours in Lolab valley of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district describing the seven alleged militants killed by army as civilians.
Imam Ghulam Rasool Lone son of Ghulam Ahmed and two brothers Saqib Lone and Bilal Ahmad sons of Ghulam Hassan Lone, all residents of Affan, Lolab were picked up by the SOG from their respective houses on Wednesday night, a local news agency, GNS reported.
The trio was been taken to the Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC) Kupwara, where they were interrogated by senior police officials on Thursday for several hours.
The trio was picked up for spreading rumours that the seven alleged Lashker-e-Toiba militants killed by army in Dardpora forests on Monday, were civilians killed in fake encounter, triggering off violent protests leading to injuries to over a dozen people, including senior CRPF and police officers.
Meanwhile, GNS said, Police have also taken at least ten youth from Kupwara town into custody following massive anti-India protests on Wednesday.
However, Superintendent of Police (SP), Kupwara, Abdul Jabbar denied that police has made any arrests in the district in the aftermath of violent protests
