FIS Asian Junior Alpine Ski Championship

SRINAGAR: India will be fielding all Jammu and Kashmir Alpine Ski team in  the 9-day FIS Asian Junior Alpine Ski Championship that is starting today in Iran.
The Indian side is constituted of all J&K players-a first of its kind side- with Syed Hania, Azlan Abid and Wasiq-ul-Billa part of the contingent that has  Hafeeza Hassan as the team leader.
The side left for Iran Wednesday.
The selection comes on the back of the J&K players’ terrific show in the recently concluded Junior National Ski Championship held at Gulmarg.
According to the press statement issued by Winter Games Association of Jammu and Kashmir (J&KWGA), the side will participate in the Slalom and Giant Slalom events.
President, JKWGA Farooq Ahmad Shah, the statement said, expressed his joy for the selection of three Kashmiri skiers and their coach by the Winter Games Federation of India and conveyed his gratitude to Brig (Rtd) SS Patwal, President Winter Games Federation of India for encouraging the local talent.
Meanwhile, the J&K Junior Ski team has arrived Auli, Uttrakhand to take part in the National Junior Alpine Ski Championship.
