JAMMU: Government had given approval to two cement factories to be set up in Pirpanjal range, MoS Industries and Commerce, Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo said on Monday.
The M/S Saraf Cement Factory will be set up in Solki, Kalakote in Rajouri district and M/S Himalayan Foot Hill Cement Private Limited at Chakrara Mandi in Poonch district, Kichloo said, while replying to a question by Ashraf Mir on behalf of Yash Pal Sharma.
The minister informed that an amount of Rs 4 crore was incurred on the construction of cement factory in Rajouri district, adding that the work was suspended on the project due to the death of the proprietor of the cement unit. He further informed that in Poonch district, an amount of Rs 41.45 lakh was disbursed by the banks/ financial institutions and the promoter abandoned the project midway. The minster informed the house that a fresh Expression of Interest (EOI) for setting up of the factories in the twin districts would be issued very soon.
