‘Shehjar apartments to pave way for vertical constructions’

Srinagar:  Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Monday  said time had come for paradigm shift from horizontal expansion of residential houses towards vertical constructions in the state to ease the pressure on land in congested cities and towns.
“This will open doors to future living in the city under the concept of cluster housing units,” he said after laying the foundation of Shehjar Apartments at Bemina here.
The Chief Minister said the prestigious project of constructing Shehjar Apartments by the Srinagar Development Authority would go a long way in shifting the concept of horizontal residential apartments towards the vertical system of construction to accommodate more families in less space.
The Shehjar Apartment project envisages construction of 532 residential apartments. The design consultancy for the high-rise project has been provided by the Housing and Urban Development Corporation.
An area of 4.5 hectares has been earmarked for the project.
Facilities like community centre, marriage hall, pent-houses, convenient shopping kiosks, tennis court and badminton court have also been proposed in the complex.
