U-19 WORLD CUP

SHARJAH: Pakistan have  qualified for the semi-final of Under 19 World Cup by beating Sri Lanka with a big margin of 121 runs in the quarterfinal in Sharjah on Saturday.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Pakistan set a huge target of 280 for Sri Lanka.
Skipper Sami Aslam hit two 6s and eight 4s in his 95 runs and Imam ul Haq struck 82 runs to guide Pakistan to 279 in 50 overs. All-rounder Kamran Ghulam slammed a quickfire 44-ball 52 to give Pakistan much needed impetus in the last ten overs.
For Sri Lanka pacer Binura Fernando claimed four wickets.
Pakistan bowlers put an all-round effort to derail Lankan chase, bundling them out for a paltry 158 to script a huge win, and securing a place in last four stages of the tournament.
Although S Samarawickrama and PARP Perera made fifties, no other Sri Lanka batsman offered any resistance.
Zia ul Haq, Karamat Ali, Zafar Gohar and Kamran Ghulan bagged two wickets each to shoot down Sri Lanka in 42.3 overs.
BRIEF SCORES: Pakistan U-19s 279/9 in 50 overs (Sami Aslam 95, Imam ul Haq 82, Kamran Ghulam 52, Fernando 4/56) beat Sri Lanka U-19s 158 all out (S Samarawickrama 51, Ramesh Mendis 68, Zia ul Haq 2/36, Zafar Gohar 2/39, Karamat Ali 2/19) by 121 runs.
