PG student shot dead in Sopore

Srinagar: Unidentified gunmen Friday shot dead a youth in Sopore town of this north Kashmir district.
22-year-old Wasim Meraj, son of Meraj-ud-Din Malla was returning to his home in Naseem Bagh locality of Krankshivan around 6:30 pm after offering evening prayers at the Masjid Bagh-e-Islam, when unknown gunmen intercepted and opened a volley of gunfire at him, officials told Kashmir Reader.
Wasim, who was pursuing Master’s in Arabic from Islamic University of Sciences and Technology, Awantipora, fell on the ground in a pool of blood. He was rushed to the sub-district hospital, Sopore, where the doctors declared him brought dead.
“The youth was brought dead to the hospital. He had received two gunshots, one in head and another in ear,” Block Medical Officer (BMO), Sopore, Dr Masood told Kashmir Reader.
Soon after the incident, Army’s 52 RR and Special Operations Group (SOG) of police reached the spot and cordoned off the area. The forces also conducted searches.
