Govt mulling introduction of job oriented courses in degree colleges

JAMMU: Higher Education Minister Mohammad Akbar Lone Friday said the committee constituted
Jammu and Kashmir government is considering introduction of new and job oriented courses in government degree colleges across the state, Higher Education Minister Mohammad Akbar Lone said Friday in Legislative Assembly.
Lone while replying to a calling attention notice by Subash Chander Gupta informed the House that a committee constituted in the Higher Education Department to consider the requirement of new/job oriented subjects introduction in Government Degree Colleges of the State has submitted its report. The committee report is under consideration and new job-oriented courses will be introduced after a final decision is taken on the recommendation of said Committee, he added.
The minister said that presently as many as 16 subjects including major subjects of Medical, Non-Medical, social sciences languages etc are being taught in the college.
Replying to the notice he also said the subjects of Environmental Sciences and Geography have been already introduced in the Government Girdhari Lal Memorial Degree College, Hiranagar.
