Army harassing family of our leader: Hurriyat (G)

SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference led by Syed Ali Geelani Friday said that army was continuously harassing family of its leader in central Kashmir’s Budgam district by conducting regular raids on his house.
In a statement, the amalgam spokesman condemned the “frequent raids by 2-RR army on the residence of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat activist Farooq Ahmad Gutapori.”
“Farooq Ahmad is a known political activist and to harass him and his family members has no justification,” the statement said.
“The army personnel from 2RR who are camped at Daharmunah Soibugh and Gagarpora Narbal have raided the residence of Farooq Sahab in Gutopora Wadwan on two separate occasions,” the statement said, adding “though Farooq Sahab was not present at home the family member’s especially children’s got terrified by the presence of army personals.”
“The army teams, who raided the residence of Farooq Sahab, enquired about him and asked for his phone number and without giving any reason they told his family to send him to the camp,” the statement said, while “strongly condemning raids.”
The statement said that Farooq Ahmad is an active worker of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat whose all activities are of political nature and he is not involved in any underground activity.
“The presence of army camps in civilian areas is a serious problem for the people as they do not respect the basic civilian rights,” the statement said.
