Shutdown in Sopore over police ‘failure’ to trace youth

Baramulla: A shutdown was observed in Sopore town of this north Kashmir district amid protests for the second consecutive day Thursday over the alleged police inaction to trace a youth  abducted by unknown gunmen last month.
Scores of persons , including women and children,  staged demonstrations against the police for their alleged failure to trace Mushtaq Ahmad Changa, who was kidnapped by unknown masked gunmen from his house at  Hyder Colony on January 29, reports said Wednesday. Chanting slogans, the protesters alleged that over 20 days had passed but police had failed to locate the youth.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Sopore, Abdul Qayoom told Kashmir Reader yesterday that the militants had abducted the youth and police was trying to locate him. Police, he said, has already filed a case Fir No16/2014 under section 365 in this regard.
