Hurriyats, JKLF condemn Pulwama youth’s ‘mutilation’

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation (JKLF) Thursday condemned “the killing and mutilation of a Pulwama youth by Indian forces.”
In a statement, JKLF chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik while condemning as “heinous” the killing by forces said that “people of Pulwama and the area where this young man has been martyred are protesting against this custodial killing.”
“Young ones of our nation are sacrificing their lives for the freedom of this nation and their sacrifices cannot go waste,” Malik said according to the statement.
JKLF also condemned “the excessive use of force against the people of Pulwama.”
“The front while praying for the martyr also expressed solidarity with his bereaved family,” the statement added.
Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani, alleged that the youth was slain in a “staged encounter.”
“The custodial killings of youth in Kashmir are going on unabated and army and SOG are trying to camouflage this massacre by staging fake encounters,” Geelani said in a statement.
The statement said Geelani while paying tributes to the slain youth “condemned the use of force against people who were protesting against the killing.”
“While saying that the sacrifices offered by youth won’t go waste, Geelani sahib appealed people to honor these sacrifices and stay away from election drams being staged in Kashmir,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, senior leader of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq-led Hurriyat Conference and chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM) Zaffer Akbar Bhat Thursday visited the family of slain youth and paid glowing tributes to him. A statement issued by the JKSM said that Bhat “expressed sympathy and solidarity with the bereaved family.”
He condemned the “mutilation of the martyred youth by Indian troops,” the statement said.
