Vodafone awards 100 scholarships to Valley students

SRINAGAR: As part of its Vodafone Delights initiative in J&K, Vodafone India, telecommunications service provider company, awarded scholarships and certificates to over 100 students from the Kashmir Valley.
The scholarships were awarded to those who achieved a perfect 10 CGPA score in the CBSE Class 10 exams or scored 90 percent or above marks in the J&K State Board of School Education class 10 and 12 exams for the academic year 2013-14, a statement issued  by the Vodafone said.
Initiated by the Vodafone the Scholarship Programme, a first-of-its-kind initiative by any telecom company in the state, last year. The number of scholarship applicants in Kashmir has increased by over 60 percent as compared to last year.
Vodafone India had announced the second edition of the Scholarship Programme in December for J&K students excelling in the Class 10 and 12 board examinations.
Asit Shekhar, Business Head, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh & J&K, Vodafone India, said, “This initiative is part of our unrelenting effort to connect with our customers and give them reason to cheer. Encouraged by last year’s tremendous response, we decided to continue with the Scholarship Programme, which is aimed at nurturing excellence and preparing students of the state to compete at the national level to fulfil their career aspirations”.
