Jammu: As many as 8,037 candidates have been trained in various sectors by the Jammu and Kashmir government under its flagship employment scheme.
State Labour and Employment Minister Ajay Kumar Sadhotra informed the Legislative Council that under the Sher-e-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for Youth (SKEWPY), the state had trained 8,037 candidates in 274 batches in various sectors.
Of this, 2,790 entrepreneurs have been assisted in setting up 2,669 enterprises under Seed Capital Fund Scheme, Sadhotra said, while replying to a question by NC member Vijay Bakaya.
SKEWPY was implemented to address the issue of unemployment in the state. Under it, Jammu & Kashmir Self Employment Scheme, Seed Capital fund Scheme, Youth Start-up Loan Scheme, National Monitory Development Fund Scheme, Voluntary Service Allowance and Women Entrepreneurship Programme have been set up, Sadhotra said.
Giving scheme-wise details, the Minister informed that against the disbursement of Rs 23,391.84 lakh, as many as 17,548 units have been established.
Also 198 migrant youth have benefitted under the Voluntary Service allowance Scheme and Women Entrepreneurship Programme, he said.
The Minister said that 50,647 unemployed educated youth have benefitted under Voluntary Service allowance and an amount of Rs 8,945.42 lakh has been disbursed to them.
An amount of Rs 606.59 crore has been disbursed to 18,129 beneficiaries and an amount of Rs 222.42 crore has been provided as incentive under JKSES and SCF schemes so far, he said.
