Man injured in leopard attack

Baramulla: An elderly man was  Thursday injured after a  leopard attacked him in Zurhama area of the neighbouring Kupwara district, two days after a man-eater leopard was shot dead by wildlife officials.
Mohammad Yaqoob Khan, son of Fakir Mohammad Khan of Zurhama was taking a stroll in the compound of his house when a leopard appeared there and attacked him; official sources told Kashmir Reader Thursday. The man suffered serious injuries in the attack, as his family and neighbours rushed out and chased away the beast. The injured man was removed to the hospital for treatment.
Pertinently, a man eater leopard was shot dead by the wildlife officials in Dardpora area of the district on Tuesday.
Meanwhile the residents of Ferozpora, Tangmarg complained that three leopards were roaming in the village from several days due to which panic has gripped the locals. The locals said they feel insecure due to constant fear of coming under the attack of the beasts.
Wildlife Warden, north Kashmir, Abdul Rauf told Kashmir Reader that teams have been sent to Kupwara and Tangmarg to catch the wild animals.
