Srinagar: Senior Hurriyat Conference (M) leader and chairman Jammu Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM), Zaffar Akbar Bhat Wednesday visited Chari-e-Sharif where he paid tributes to the militants who laid down their lives for the “ongoing freedom struggle.”
Zaffar flanked by other party leaders including Molvi Abdul Rashid, Mustaq Kashmiri, Beigh Aijaz, Mohammad Shafi and Abdul Rahim visited the central Kashmir town and paid rich tributes to Haider Ashiq Hussain, Asif Fayaz, Jehangir Manzoor and Abdul Ahad Khateeb, who were killed by government forces on this day in 1995, a party spokesman said in a statement.
Zaffar said the slain militants played a key role in the ongoing struggle which would be remembered. The delegation also offered prayers at martyrs’ graveyard and paid tributes to Danish Nabi, Manzoor Shahbaz, Ghulam Nabi Baba,Manzoor Shah, Sadeq Hamza, Tipu Sultan, Shabaz Khan, Shafiq Ahmed Bhat, Zaffar Kawa and others.
“Martyrs’ internationalized the Kashmir issue globally and hence it is our duty to fight peacefully for securing the cause-right to self determination,” Zaffar said. He also denounced the “oppressive tactics of India” and said state was “converted into a virtual jail” by deploying troops in every corner of the Valley during the anniversaries of Mohammad Maqbool Bhat and Mohammad Afzal Guru.
Meanwhile the JKSM chairman expressed solidarity with senior Hurriyat leader Bilal Gani lone on the demise of his grandfather and social activist Master Ghulam Ahmed Gani.
