Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani Saturday said former Health Minister Shabir Ahmad Khan accused of sexual assault on a lady doctor should be hanged publicly.
“An example needs to be set so that no other person dares to misuse his office in the future,” Geelani said.
Geelani warned the government of serious consequences if it tries to “shield the accused or hush the matter.”
“In the past, several Ministers and officials found involved in various scams and scandals were let off due to government interference but this time we will not allow the accused to go scot-free for his unpardonable ghastly act,” Geelani said.
The Kashmir High Court Bar Association (KHCBA) also condemned the “deplorable act “ and demanded that the accused be immediately arrested and put to trial before a fast-track court.
