Guru, Bhat anniversaries: Yasin, aides detained as police foil JKLF’s Lal Chowk march

Srinagar: Police Sunday detained Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front(JKLF) chairman Yasin Malik along with his aides when they tried to take out a protest march here.
Malik , who had gone into hiding on Friday, emerged from the Maisuma locality and attempted to lead a protest march towards Lal Chowk , but was detained along with JKLF leaders Noor Mohammad Kalwal, Mushtaq Ajmad and Ashraf- bin- Salam.
JKLF had called Lal Chowk march as part of its programme to press for the mortal remains of Maqbool Bhat and Afzal Guru.
“30 years ago, Indian rulers ordered the judicial murder of Mohammad Maqbool Bhat and then buried him inside the Tihar jail premises. They repeated the same tyranny by hanging Mohammad Afzal Guru in the same manner,” Malik told reporters before he was whisked away by police along with his aides.
By executing Bhat and Guru without giving their families a chance to see them and denying them a proper burial, India had crossed all heights of “tyranny and oppression .”
Many JKLF leaders and activists including advocate Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi, Sheikh Khalid, Ghulam Mohammad Dar, Bashir Ahmad Boya, Abdul Satar, Gayas- ud-Ddin, Fayaz Ahmad Lone, Abdul Aziz, Hafizullah Sofi and Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat are already in police custody, a JKLF spokesman said.
