AIP protest foiled, too

Srinagar: Independent MLA and chairman Awami Itihad Party(AIP) Engineer Abdul Rashid also tried to take out a protest march along with his supporters from his official residence at Jawahar Nagar.
A spokesman for Rashid’s party condemned “the use of force by CRPF to disburse AIP’s peaceful march.”
“Four party workers were hospitalized on account of receiving injuries due to use of disproportionate force by CRPF,” the spokesman alleged.
Rashid and five party activists were detained at Police station Rajbagh, the spokesman said.
“Deployment of heavy contingents of police and paramilitary forces at every nook and corner of the Valley should serve as an eye- opener for those Indians who claim that Afzal needed to be hanged to satisfy the collective conscience of the people of India,” the spokesman said.
“Guru’s hanging and burial at Tihar jail will remain a black spot on the face of India, which claims to be the largest democracy of the world as it is unprecedented for civilized nations to imprison the mortal remains of a dead person,” the spokesman said.
The spokesman said that it was unfortunate that the “state government is behaving like a puppet of New Delhi.”
“Heavens would not have fallen if this protest had been allowed to proceed in a democratic manner,” the spokesman said.
