Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference(M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farrooq Thursday welcomed Pakistan’s offer of talks to India to resolve the Kashmir issue and said the time has come that leadership of both the countries shed “confrontationist” approach and start a result oriented dialogue process.
“It is a right step taken at the right time,” Mirwaiz said in a statement.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif invited India to engage in a “comprehensive, sustained and result-oriented” dialogue with Pakistan to resolve the Kashmir issue yesterday.
“Time has come when leadership of both the countries need to show political courage and shed their confrontationist approach for the better future of the people of this region and start a result oriented dialogue process for the resolution of Kashmir issue and all other pending issues,” he said.
“Hurriyat Conference has always supported dialogue for a just and permanent resolution of Kashmir. However, the inclusion of Kashmiri people is imperative to make such a process credible and meaningful,” he said.
The Hurriyat leader said that people of Kashmir have made huge sacrifices for the right of self determination and being the basic stakeholders, their aspirations and wishes could not be ignored.
