SRINAGAR: Failing to submit their audit reports, Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council has withdrawn the affiliation of major six associations in the state.
Officials said that the council has cancelled the affiliations of the associations for not complying with the rules and directives of the sports body.
Those which were stripped off form the affiliation include: Basketball, Kayaking and, Canoeing, Swimming, softball, Roller Skating and Body Building.
Secretary State Sports Council, Dilip Thusoo confirmed to Kashmir Reader that the sports body has cancelled affiliations of six associations, saying the step was taken because the associations were not able to produce their accounts during audit.
“The decision was taken in June last year when we found that these associations had not submitted the details of their accounts of the money provided to them by the council. And all was done with proper set of procedures,” Thusoo said.
Thusoo said that those who submitted the details in audit remained affiliated with the council while those which failed to do so were stripped off from the affiliations.
