SRINAGAR: Jammu Kashmir Bank senior football team proved too hot for its academy side, thrashing them 5-0 in the summit clash to win 2nd Christmas Soccer Championship played at GGM Science College Ground.
It proved to be a lopsided contest with seniors not letting JK Bank Academy to settle as goals came thick and fast for the title winners. It is for the first time in soccer history of the state that both sides competing in the finals of a tournament belonged to one institution.
The senior team didn’t have to sweat much to get onto the scoring sheet, drawing the first blood in the 23rd minute. Five minutes latter it was 2-0 and the first half ended with a scoreline of 3-0 with seniors finding the net in the 39th minute.
Second half didn’t bring any joy for the academy side as seniors continued to dominate the proceedings with two goals coming in the space of five minutes to make 5-0, which turned out to be the final score.
It was JK Bank’s third title at a bounce in the current season at Jammu.
Abdul Hamid Banday Executive President & Chairman Sports Board J&K Bank was thrilled over the team’s performance and praised both sides for their brilliance on the field.
ADG Mr. Dilbagh Singh and Kirran Wattal were part of the presentation ceremony.Arvind Aggarwal Zonal Head Jammu and Showkat Khanyari Secretary JK Bank Sports Board were also in attendance.
The tournament was organised by Christian Sports Association in support of J&K Football Association.
