Weather forecast: Snowfall from Jan 8-10

Srinagar: Weather woes are likely to mount as Kashmir braces for heavy snowfall in the next three days.
The weather is likely to hit road and air connectivity in the region, according to weather advisory issued here Tuesday by Director of local Meteorological Department Sonam Lotus.
“Moderate to heavy snow will occur at many places in Kashmir and Jammu divisions and at a few places in Ladakh region particularly in Zogila, Drass and Kargil hilly areas,” the advisory said, adding that a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect the state from January 8 to 10. The main activity of the Western system is on January 9 (Thursday), it said.
“Isolated places may receive very heavy snowfall,” it said, adding, “This system is likely to move in East-North-East ward direction.”
It is likely to disrupt surface and air transport, the advisory said. The day temperatures will fall by five to six degrees Celsius while the night temperatures will rise by two to three degrees during this period, the advisory added.
