SRINAGAR: As many as 163 cases of braid chopping were reported in Kashmir valley while 264 have been reported from Jammu division, the government informed the High Court Thursday.
The police report submitted to the court hearing a public interest litigation on braid chopping incidents in the valley, informed that three people were arrested in connection with braid chopping incidents in Kashmir.
The court later reserved its judgement in the case.
Among the arrested, one is a woman from Batmaloo, and two men are from district Ganderbal currently lodged in Police Station Batmaloo and Ganderbal, the report said.
Additional Advocate General BA Dar said the efforts of police force “has led to the decrease in the incidents.”
The division bench comprising of Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir and Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey remarked that investigation be carried out properly after receiving the report.
The report further said that the victims don’t want to come forward and “refused to record their statement before police but the investigation is going on. Till now no tangible evidence has been recovered.”
Forensic examination has revealed that hair has been chopped with some sharp edged object.
The report said that most of the involved have not been nabbed yet. Also rumours and hoax incidents were highlighted for which investigation is being conducted.
