SRINAGAR: Police on Wednesday detained several members of Shiv Sena who tried to hoist tricolor at the historic Ghanta Ghar (Clock Tower) at Lal Chowk.
Eyewitnesses said that as soon as the activities appeared near the square, police detained all of them.
The Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Shiv Sena has sent a team to Srinagar to hoist the tricolor at Lal Chowk Srinagar.
Right-wing organisations had said they would hoist the national flag at Ganta Ghar after National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah had dared the Centre to hoist the tricolor at Lal Chowk.
Former Chief Minister and President of National Conference Farooq Abdullah had last week said, “They (Centre and BJP) are talking about raising the flag in PaK. I ask them to go and raise the tricolor at Lal Chowk in Srinagar. They cannot even do that and they are talking about PaK.”
