LMD penalises fertiliser store for delivering less to farmers

UDHAMPUR: Acting swiftly on the consumer’s complaints regarding weighing less during delivery, overcharging and non-issuance of bill, a team of Legal Metrology Department (LMD) booked a prominent fertiliser store in Udhampure district.
According to an official handout, a team of Legal Metrology Department (LMD) under the supervision of District Development Commissioner, Ravinder Kumar led by Assistant Controller LMD Udhampur Anita Sharma accompanied by Inspector Rita Sharma inspected the M/S Kissan Fertiliser Store Bus Stand, Udhampur and found that the bags of Urea and DAP less in weight against the net weight of 50 kg.
Moreover, the weighing scale at the store was defective and not verified for the last one year.
A case was booked against the store and fine of Rs 20,000 was imposed for violation of various provisions of weights and measures laws, the handout read.
The department appealed has the general public to approach the office for redressal of their genuine consumer complaints, it added.
