Veeri forgets promise

Baramulla: The frequent power outages at public health centre Sheeri, one of the important health centres on Baramulla Uri highway are haunting hundreds of patients and medical staff. The lack of power supply affects the functioning of the facility and people are constrained to travel to Baramulla town for tests and examinations prescribed by the doctors.
The people raised the issue with revenue minister Abdul Rehman Veeri last month when he was in the area to inaugurate tehsil office. The minister promised to provide a generator for this important hospital and asked the district administration to arrange the same within a few days but the promise has not been fulfilled.
“The hospital caters to the people living in 25 villages of Narvaw area besides trauma patients are shifted to the facility for immediate medical aid. However, the helpless doctors are shifting them to Baramulla because they can’t perform different tests and examinations including x-ray and ultrasound due to lack of uninterrupted power supply,” Fayaz Ahmad, a local resident said.
He said the health facility has medical staff posted but they are unable to perform to the satisfaction of people.
“The revenue minister in presence of MLA Baramulla Javid Hussain Beigh publicly announced installation of generator but despite it seems the administration forgot the promise as soon as it was made,” Gulam Rasool, a member of hospital development committee said.
