Ganderbal: Residents of three villages of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal Tuesday protested and blocked Srinagar-Leh road againsterratic power supply in the area.
Reports said inhabitants of three villages -Manigam, Wayil, Gultibaghblocked the Srinagar-Leh road at Manigam crossing for almost two hours leading to heavy traffic jam.
Chanting slogans against the officials of Power Development Department (PDD), protesters accused them of frequent power curtailments in the area.
“We have been demanding replacement of high capacity transformer for power station Wayil to overcome the crisis. But authorities are not paying heed to our demand despite many reminders.” Ghulam Mohammad War, a protestor told Kashmir Reader.
War said that they even approached Executive Engineer PDD Ganderbalalso but nothing has been done.
Later civil and police administration assured the protestors that their genuine issue will be taken up with concerned authorities.
