Horticulture important to uplift farmers: DDC Pulwama

PULWAMA: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Pulwama, Ghulam Mohammad Dar on Tuesday flagged-off a group of 100 farmers of the district to exposure tour to SKUAST-K Shalimar Srinagar.
The tour was organised by Horticulture Department Pulwama under Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture, an official handout read.
According to the handout, the DDC said that such tours would help the farmers to acquaint themselves with the latest technology and practices. He asked the farmers to “make the best use of the training programme”.
He said, “Horticulture activities play an important role for the upliftment of farming community which he said is also the backbone of the rural economy.”
He also stressed upon the Department of Horticulture to promote such exposure visits so that the farming community of the district is benefitted.
During the tour, farmers will get an opportunity to interact with scientists and will be given a practical demonstration of latest technology in the field of horticulture, the handout added.
