SRINAGAR: “Father of true journalism in Kashmir Khwaja Sanaullah Bhat Aftab and legend Sofi Ghulam Muhammad of Srinagar Times were shining stars of our journalistic history,” said Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik on Saturday.
In a statement, Malik while remembering Khwaja Sanaullah Bhat and Sofi Ghulam Muhammad on their death anniversaries said they were historical personalities whose social and literary works will always be written in golden letters.
JKLF had organised a condolence meeting at its headquarters in memory of these “stalwarts”. “These people represent the glorious page of our history and their social works should always be remembered,” Malik said.
Recalling his close association with Khwaja Sanaullah Bhat, JKLF chief said, “He (Khwaja Sahib) was like a fatherly person to (me) and always (stood) at (my) back in odd times. He was a brave, fearless, and straightforward person, a dynamic and fearless writer and patriot. He always wrote what he thought was right and fruitful for the society and never (used his pen) to please anybody or to get any personal benefits.”
“Khwaja Sahib loved Allah and his heart was full of love for Prophet Muhammad (SAW). He encouraged and taught the new generation of Kashmiris, provided them knowledge and educated them to serve society. This is his biggest contribution to this oppressed nation and today while we observe his day and remember him, we need to introspect and try to adhere to the high principles and standards set by the great intellectual and saint.” Recalling the “great personality” of Sofi Ghulam Muhammad of Srinagar Times, Malik said, “He was a writer who had courage to stand for the truth in worst situations. A person who serves his people and leaves better legacy for them is always remembered by nations and Sofi Sahib was among such persons.” Malik also prayed for the heavenly abode for both.
Meanwhile, JKLF chairman paid rich tributes to prominent businessman and well-wisher Haji Ghulam Nabi Nadaf alias Abba who left for heavenly abode on Friday. Malik along with party delegation visited deceased’s residence and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.
He also prayed for the heavenly abode of the deceased and patience to the bereaved family.
