Attackers not humans: Geelani
Enemies of Islam, says Mirwaiz
SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference on Saturday strongly condemned the deadly attack on a mosque in Sinia province in Egypt on Friday that left more than 300 worshipers dead.
Expressing deep concern and grief over the loss of lives, Syed Ali Geelani in a statement said those involved in these heinous attacks are not human beings. He demanded exemplary and stringent action against culprits. “It is a well-thought-out conspiracy and Muslims are mercilessly being massacred in every nook and corner of (the) world,” Geelani said and extended his sympathy and condolences to the bereaved families. .
“Terrorism in every form and place is condemnable and no religion, particularly Islam, endorses such actions. It is very sad, unfortunate, and a big conspiracy to promote sectarianism in Muslim Ummah,” he said.
In a statement, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said such dastardly acts are deplorable and intolerable acts of terror. “Those who have targeted the innocent worshipers in a sacred place of worship are enemies of Islam and humanity and should be severely punished.”
He expressed solidarity with the families of all those killed in the dastardly act and stated that Kashmiris stand with the families of victims in this hour of grief and sorrow. He prayed for the speedy recovery of all the injured in the attack.
Mirwaiz also expressed concern over the Bangladesh government’s decision of granting death penalty to two Jamaat-e-Islami activists.
He condemned New Delhi based news channel Aaj Tak anchor Rohit Sardana for using derogatory language against the wife of prophet Muhammad (SAW) Hazrat Aisha (RA) and Prophet’s (SAW) daughter Hazrat Fatima (RA) stating that it is against the basic ethics of humanity to talk in a derogatory manner against those especially religious figures held in great reverence and respect by members of a community. “Muslims will not tolerate it and such act can have serious ramifications,” he said. Mirwaiz said ever since “RSS-backed BJP” took over the reins in New Delhi, majority of news channels have been employed in Islam and Muslim bashing and deliberate attempts are made to promote a hate campaign against Muslims and Muslim figures in history and their role.
Meanwhile, Geelani also expressed his deep grief over the demise of sister of incarcerated leader Wahid Ahmad Mir, saying his mother was slain during the ongoing movement. While extending his condolences, the veteran resistance leader said the grieved family has rendered “praiseworthy services for (the) resistance movement”.
Expressed deep grief over the demise of Dr Mohammad Ashraf of Peer Bagh, Geelani prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and expressed condolence and solidarity with the bereaved family. A Hurriyat delegation led by Bashir Ahmad Qureshi visited the grieved family and extended condolences.
