DGP sanctions scholarship for 116 meritorious police wards

Jammu: Director General of Police, S P Vaid has sanctioned meritorious scholarships amounting to Rs. 5.90 lakh in favour of wards of police personnel, who have secured more than 80% marks in class XII examinations during the 2016-17 academic session, and Rs 30 thousand for wards of police personnel who have qualified competitive examination conducted by PSC/Central Board during this year.
The reward of Rs. 6000 each has been sanctioned to 25 wards of police personnel who have secured above ninety per cent marks and Rs. 5000 for the 88 wards who have secured above eighty per cent in the annual examination of 12th class this year. Besides, the reward of Rs. 10,000 each has been sanctioned in favour of three wards of police personnel who have qualified competitive examination conducted by PSC/Central boards during this year.
Scholarships in different categories are given to the police wards out of contributory police welfare fund with the aim to inculcate a spirit of competition among them and prepare for competitive exams of professional courses.
