Malik arrested, shifted to central jail on judicial remand

Srinagar: Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Muhammad Yasin Malik was arrested by police on Saturday and immediately shifted to central jail Srinagar on judicial remand, a spokesman of the party said.

The JKLF spokesman said that police which had virtually cordoned the whole area of Maisuma from last evening early today raided the residence of Yasin Malik and arrested him. 

“He was immediately shifted to central jail Srinagar,” he said and condemned the arrest of party Chief.

Meanwhile, JKLF paid tributes to the slain militant, Mugeese Ahmad Mir of Parimpora who was killed in a ‘shootout’ on Friday evening.

JKLF delegation participated in his funeral prayers and expressed solidarity with his bereaved family.

JKLF while recalling the sacrifices of Farooq Ahmad Khan (Pupa Dar) and Parvaiz Ahmad Billa on their anniversary has said that “these martyrs have and are rendering sacrifices for our better and secure future and no Kashmiri can ever turn a blind eye to their struggle and sacrifices.”

While paying tributes to them, JKLF said that struggle will continue till the achievement of their cherished goal.

JKLF district president Muhammad Ishaaq and others visited their families and expressed solidarity with them.

JKLF has also expressed heartfelt grief and sorrow over the demise of father in law of Dulair Khan of Mazhama and also on the demise of mother of another activist Ghulam Hassan Baba of Nasrullahpora.

JKLF senior leader Siraj ud din Mir along with Gulzar Ahmad Pahalwan, Ashraf bin Salam and others visited the bereaved families and expressed condolences to them.

It is worth mentioning that the martyrdom day of Shuhada I Aali Kadal is being observed tomorrow.

The spokesman said that tomorrow on Nov 19, JKLF leaders along with other people will gather at Mazar I shuhada Eidgah at 10:30 am and participate in a remembrance meeting. On Nov 20, a blood donation camp will also be held at JKLF office Abiguzar in this connection which will start from 11:00 am in the morning.
