BANDIPORA: A capacity building-cum-awareness programme in which a large number of progressive farmers participated was held here on Tuesday. The programme held under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Bandipora, an official press note read.
According to the press note, the ADC urged upon the farmers to make the best use of knowledge they gained during the awareness programme. He also directed the concerned to organise such awareness programmes in every zone especially, in rural areas of the district so that more farmers could take advantage of the same.
On this occasion, the experts and subject matter specialists delivered lectures on the development of apiculture, mushroom, soil health and general farming.
To boost the agriculture sector, as many as 16 different schemes are under operation in the district of which over Rs 21 lakh have been spent till September end, this year, chief agriculture officer on the occasion said.
He added under these schemes various agricultural equipments like power tiller, irrigation pump sets, brush cutters, tractors, poly greenhouses, motorised/manual carts, tube wells/bore wells, bee colonies/bee hives, sprayers, honey extractors, water harvesting tanks, seed storage bins and other required thing are being provided to the farmers on subsidised rates.
To clear the concept of farmers regarding adopting of new and scientific farming methods, an interactive session was also held on the occasion.
