Srinagar: The three militants killed in the gunfight with forces late last evening in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have been identified, sources said on Tuesday.
The slain militants belonged to Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) militant outfit and were identified as Muhammad Bhai, a Divisional Commander and a resident of Pakistan; Talha Rasheed, nephew of JeM chief, Masood Azhar and Waseem Ahmad a resident of Drubgam Pulwama, media reports said.
The photograph of Waseem carrying M16 Carbine had gone viral on facebook a few days ago. The same weapon was also recovered from the encounter site, police said.
A gunfight erupted in Aglar village of Pulwama last evening after forces led by J&K police and army cordoned the village. As the forces were lying siege, militants fired upon them ensuing a gunfight.
An army soldier, Lance Naik Vikram Paul Singh was also killed during the gunfight while a civilian suffered bullet injury in clashes near the gunfight site.
