Army vehicle hits motorists, two injured

Budgam: Clashes erupted between government forces and villagers at Soibug Sunday afternoon after a motor cycle was hit with an army vehicle in Hanjibug neighbourhood of the Soibug.
The motorists, identified as Muneer Ahmad Bhat and Ashraf of Gariend Khurd, were hit with an army vehicle at Hanjigund, seriously injuring them.
“Soon after the news spread in the area, people came on streets and started protesting against the army,” Syed Aala, a villager said. He added that the injured were brought to primary health centre Soibug from where they were referred to SKIMS Bemina for further treatment. Their condition is stated to be stable.
Sources said that villagers also threw rocks at the army vehicles. Following the incident, all businesses were closed and traffic went off the roads.
