Anantnag: Militants on Saturday evening ransacked the house of a ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader in Dadsara village of Tral area in Pulwama district.
The militants also fired several shots in air as they were leaving the house of Peer Ashraf, Zonal president of the party. Nobody, however, was injured during the incident.
The incident comes only a day after a hand grenade was lobbed into the house of Tral MLA, Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, who also belongs to the PDP.
Peer Ashraf happens to be a close aide of Shah.
Also a day prior to attack on Shah’s house a hand grenade was lobbed at another PDP legislator Ajaz Mir’s house in Wachi area of Shopian district.
According to local reports the militants barged into the house of Ashraf at about 7:40 PM.
“They ransacked the house, smashed windowpanes and other household items and fired several shots in air as they were leaving,” a local source told Kashmir Reader.
SSP Awantipora, Zahid Malik, confirmed the incident while talking to Kashmir Reader over phone.
“The militants were four in number. They have ransacked the house and fired in air,” Malik said.
He said that the house was not protected by police or other forces as Ashraf now lives in a new house.
“He was not present there,” Malik said, adding that the police have initiated investigating the case.
