Driven by passion, specially-abled persons explored their talent in sports activities.

Srinagar: Driven by passion to perform a large number of specially abled persons with different levels of handicap participated in the Mega Sports Day organised by the Sports Club of the Voluntary Medicare Society at its Bemina campus on Saturday.
The participants from all ages and gender participated in the sports event defeating the handicap they have been living with.
The youngest participant was 4 years old Adnan and the senior most sports person who participated in Javelin throw even was Mohamad Amin Rawa.
Justice (Retd) HasnainMasoodi who was the chief guest at the sports event in his inaugural address while declaring the Mega Sports Day open lamented that no politician could find time to afford encouragement to the specially-abled children.
He lauded the role of the sports club of the Voluntary Medicare Society for organising such mega event that too in a flawless manner attracting a very large participation. Earlier, founder President of VMS Dr Mir Mohammad Maqbool formally welcomed the guests and participants and hoped that they will enjoy the events.
Justice (Retd) Hasnain Masoodi, president of Zainab Ali KhairiAam Trust or ZAKAT presented a cheque for Rupees five lacs to Dr Mir Mohammad Maqbool, founder President of VMS as donation to the NGO. The games events organised included cricket for the visually impaired, hockey match for the handicapped and amputees, shot put, javelin throw, discus throw, Wheelchair Race and badminton for spinal injury patients.
The following players in Javelin throw event for physically challenged category respectively bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes: Farooq Ahmed, Tariq Ahmad Shah and Zahoor Ahmad whereas Mashook, Amir Rouf and Ayaz won the 1st three prizes respectively for hearing impaired persons. In DIscusThrow event Waseem Ahmad, Zahoor Ahmed and Farooq Ahmad.
In the Wheelchair Race Ajaz Ahmad, Zahoor Ahmad and Ishfaq Ahmad bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. The Cricket match for Visually Impaired was won by Green Team. In Shot Put event Zahoor Ahmad, Tariq Ahmad and Mohammad Rafi bagged the 1st three prizes respectively. In Badminton event Mohammad Adil, and Ishfaq were adjudged winners and Mohammad Rafi and Tariq Ahmad ended up as runners up.
The hockey match for speech and hearing impaired and amputees was won by Green Team.
