MLA Tral’s house attacked, no one injured

Anantnag: Militant’s Friday evening hurled a hand grenade at the residence of ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader and lawmaker from Tral, Mushtaq Ahmad Shah in main town Tral.
No loss of life or injury to anybody was reported in the grenade explosion, which took place in the lawns of the MLA’s residence.
This is second such attack in two consecutive days. On Thursday militants hurled a grenade at MLA Wachi’s house in Shopian district, causing no damage.
Today’s incident took place at about 4:50 PM in Konjbal locality of the Tral town.
A senior police official told Kashmir Reader that militants threw a hand grenade inside the premises of Shah’s house.
“The grenade exploded within the premises but fortunately nobody was injured in the explosion,” the official said, adding that the police men guarding the house fired several rounds in air following the explosion.
The attackers meanwhile managed to escape after the assault. The area was soon cordoned off and searches were being carried out.
The lawmaker, Shah, told Kashmir Reader that he and his family was safe.
“I was not home but my family was there. Fortunately nobody was hurt in the explosion,” Shah said.
Local sources told Kashmir Reader that panic gripped the while Tral town as gunshots reverberated soon after the grenade explosion rocked the area.
