Srinagar: An army soldier was killed after militants attacked a patrol party in Drang village of Khag tehsil in central Kashmir’s Budgam district during late last evening, army said on Monday.
“An Army patrolling party came under fire last night in general area of Drang, Distt Budgam. The fire was returned. One soldier was martyred in the crossfire,” army spokesperson Col Rajesh Kalia told Kashmir Reader.
Sources said that the army soldier received a bullet during a late-night search operation in the village.
The deceased has been identified as Subedar Rajkumar of 53 Rashtriya Rifles (RR).
