JRL calls for shutdown on Monday

Srinagar: Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) Saturday called for a shutdown on October 09 (Monday) against braid chopping incidents in the state.

Commenting over the incessant braid chopping, the JRL including Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik in a statement issued here said that it is a well thought out conspiracy.

“It is a big challenge for us as dignity of women folk is at stake,” they said, appealing people to observe a complete shutdown against ‘humiliation’ meted to women.

“Let us convey a message to these miscreants that in no way we will give up our resistance and will pursue the right to self-determination movement,” JRL said.

Appealing people, the leaders maintained that unity and steadfastness is the need of the hour and “while making every such mischievous ploy a failure, we will pursue our mission till its logical end,” the statement added.
