Braid chopping reported from Shopian, Pulwama

SHOPIAN: Three fresh incidents of braid chopping incidents have been reported in Shopian villages since Sunday.
In Manihal Batapora, a young woman was reportedly attacked on Sunday evening and her braid was chopped by “unidentified masked men”.
She was later shifted to district hospital for treatment. The second incident took place at Safanagri village on Monday, where another woman was reportedly attacked by some unknown persons and a small portion of her braid was chopped.
According to locals, the woman was working in her orchard, and was accompanied by her nine-year-old son, whose cries brought neghbouring farmers to her rescue. Block Medical Officer Zainapora, Abdul Gani Raina confirmed the incident and said that the woman was a psychiatric patient and a very little portion of her braid was chopped off.
The third incident took place on Monday morning at Laddi village where a braid of a 16-year-old girl was chopped. She was referred to sub district hospital for treatment.
Two failed attempts have also been reported from Losedenow and Wach villages.
Another incident was reported from Drach village of Pulwama. Sayima Jan, 13, daughter of Abdul Quyoom Bhat was reportedly attacked be unidentified with a liquid spray at a canal near her home. She was unconscious when shifted to Pulwama hospital. The incident took place around 6 pm.
