Srinagar: A youth was critically injured after being hit by pellets in Srinagar on Friday during clashes with government forces.
Reports said that a youth, identified as Mudasir Beigh, was hit by pellets in his body when intense clashes erupted between protestors and government forces in Nowhatta area of Old Srinagar, which houses the historic Jamia Masjid.
Soon after the prayers concluded, scores of youth held pro-freedom and anti-India protests, following which government forces resorted to intense tear gas and pellet firing.
The injured youth belongs to Srinagar’s Nowshera area.
“The youth was hit by pellets and a rubber bullet in his hand,” said an eye witness.
Mudasir was shifted to SMHS Hospital for medical treatment where he is said to be stable.
